VolunteerAs an organization operated entirely by the efforts of volunteers, we are always seeking interested individuals to join our team for a six-week research trip to Costa Rica. Depending on experience, volunteers will extract birds from mist nets, collect measurements and data, learn to safely handle hummingbirds... On our days off we have opportunities to visit nearby preserves and beaches and travel to birding hotspots like Monteverde and Carara National Park. We schedule our winter research trips to coincide with winter break for most colleges and universities, but individuals of all ages are encouraged to contact us.

Visit NPARSIf you plan on being in the Montezuma/Cobano area in December or January, we welcome you to schedule a visit to our headquarters on Finca Pura Vida. The hummingbird feeder gallery attracts thousands of hummingbirds of nearly a dozen species, a dazzling spectacle found nowhere else on the Peninsula. You may schedule a visit during one of our hummingbird banding sessions to learn about our research and witness bird banding in person. We do not charge visitors, although donations are always appreciated.
